What if the Vision Makes You Wait?

Blog series: One Place of Service That Opened Up the Whole World

In this four-part series, I tell how God led me step by step from "The Wedding of the Lamb" to Israel, Pakistan, and eventually also to the birth of Living Faith.

In this series:

  • Part 1 – What If the Vision Makes You Wait?

◻ Part 2 – Israel – The First Door

◻ Part 3 – Pakistan – The Second Door

◻ Part 4 – The Tracks Are Visible Only Looking Back

When the Vision Makes You Wait

Now, in the summer of 2026, there are doors and opportunities before me that I could never have imagined. The ministry has got off to a good start with God's recommendations, but the greatest surprise of all to me is where He has sent me: Pakistan.

I have never, ever felt the slightest pull toward the countries of Asia or the Middle East, either in a secular or spiritual sense. Least of all have I felt any interest in ministry in any Muslim country.

I made these facts clear at an early stage also to my "Employer," my Heavenly Father, when listing the places where He could send me and where He could not. God has quite obviously had His own view of the matter.

There have been many periods and events in my life whose significance I have understood only later. Looking back, I have seen how they were connected to something bigger that God had been building.

In these four posts, I want to share with you my experience of how God has led me from one stage to another to this point in my life, where the mission field is truly open. However, not to the place where I myself imagined I would primarily go. And it all began with something much smaller...

It all began in the spring of 2023. I had a dream about someone who was then a board member of The Wedding of the Lamb association. I found it very strange because I had never met that person and had never even thought about this person either.

I Was Invited to "The Wedding of the Lamb"

The main vision of The Wedding of the Lamb association is to distribute tracts, produce them in as many different languages as possible, and urge believers to be ready when the invitation to the Wedding of the Lamb actually comes.

In my case, I came across the association in the spring of 2023.

Two days after the dream I had, I found myself at a seminar that "Someone" wanted to pay for me to attend, even though I had already cancelled my participation once. This "Someone" said she strongly felt that I should attend the seminar.

When the seminar began, to my great astonishment I noticed that the Person I had seen in the dream was there. Later, I heard that the Person too had received a seminar ticket as a gift from someone else with the words: "I feel that you should be at that seminar."

So that is where we met.

The following autumn, through various events, I ended up volunteering for The Wedding of the Lamb association. My task was to work through the backlog of hundreds of emails that had come from abroad, because the association had no one who was able and had time to do it.

I did not join the association because I saw an international opportunity or a great plan ahead of me. But everything that happened in the spring of 2023 – of which, to save space here, I have told only a very small part – pointed so strongly to the fact that God was planning something special that I could not leave the matter unexplored.

An Important "Job"

The volunteer work soon led to paid employment. Before that, however, there was an interesting phase in which I believe I was being tested. On the same day that I learned about the opportunity for paid work with the association, I was also offered another job.

That job would have been very, very different and was connected to the "cream of the crop" of Finland's Christian music scene.

In my mind, I saw two alternative paths, and I was allowed to choose which one I would take. On one side were large concert halls and possibly many amazing contacts. On the other side was a tiny association, which, however, had clearly been brought into being by God.

It felt as though, figuratively speaking, to get through the door of The Wedding of the Lamb, you had to bend almost double so that you would not hit your head on the doorframe. It was like a door to a root cellar.

Behind one door, there was a little everyday glamour in sight. Behind the other, working alone, an enormous number of unanswered emails, and work whose significance I could not yet really see.

I felt very strongly that I was supposed to join the association. The hundreds of emails I mentioned had come from people all over the world who had made a decision to follow Christ and desperately needed answers about how they could move forward now in their new situation in life. There were also many questions about why God allows certain things, questions about baptism, and spiritual matters in general.

The work of The Wedding of the Lamb took me around Finland to various events. Here at the GLOW Festival in Tampere in 2025.

God's Plan

I feel like putting ten exclamation marks and streamers after that subheading! NOTHING has been as worthwhile as realizing that I needed to let go of my own plans and let the Father get the blueprints right!

A roughly 10-second Instagram video I saw in January 2025 had a strong impact on this realization. In the video, musician and evangelist Pekka Simojoki was speaking in a church. He said approximately this:

"Instead of asking God to bless your own plans, start giving thanks that you get to be part of His plans!"

I do not understand what happened at that moment, but the slight anxiety that had been there somewhere in the background for more than 20 years because the Lord had not sent me to the mission fields immediately eased. The "sharp edge" of the anxiety fell right there onto my living room floor.

In fact, now as I am writing this, I understand it better: He could not send me to the field because I myself "was going" to sub-Saharan Africa, but that was not what He wanted from me.

I was waiting for God to fulfill the vision in the way and in the place that I myself had imagined. At the same time, He was already leading me in a completely different direction; through a small association, through hundreds of emails. Through people and encounters whose significance I could not yet understand.

Toward doors whose existence I knew nothing about.

At The Wedding of the Lamb association, I had the opportunity to meet many interesting people, with whom we also did interviews for Radio Dei. On the left, Bible teacher Sirkku Chewning being interviewed, and on the right, politician and ex-Foreign Minister Timo Soini.

What If the Vision Makes You Wait?

If you have been struggling with your calling, I want to encourage you to think about this.

Sometimes the vision makes us wait because God is preparing us.

Sometimes because He is building connections, growing something in us, or teaching us faithfulness in tasks that seem small at the time.

And sometimes because we ourselves are so certain of what the fulfillment of our calling should look like that we do not yet see the door God is opening.

So do not give up on the vision just because you do not see concrete progress happening, even for years.

Nor do other people's doubts or opposition in themselves invalidate what God is calling you to. A calling should be tested, prayed about, and we should learn to recognize God's guidance – but it should not be abandoned simply because others do not yet see what God has placed on your heart.

Remain faithful to the Father, and seek in everything to fulfill His will. In major decisions in life, listen carefully to what He says. Be willing to serve also in the "small things."

I did not know, as I answered hundreds of emails, where that task would eventually lead. I did not know that through one small place of service, a door to Israel would open.

And I especially did not know where that door would eventually lead.

What if the "small place" where you are now is actually the beginning of something you cannot yet see?

God's plans do not always look big when we step into them for the first time. Sometimes the most significant door is precisely the one in front of which you have to bend almost double. In my case, that door led next to Israel in October 2025.
